do you replace strut mounts (are they the things that located on top of the struts where you bolt your strut bar on) when you install new struts/shocks and lowering springs?

side question. how hard is it to install new struts/shocks by yourself? i wanna learn more about car. i have no experience with cars b4

As long as they aren't worn out, you can reuse them.

And, its relatively easy and should only take a few hours.

I've yet to use power tools when doing suspension work.

Technically, he is sort of swapping springs if he keeps his old strut mounts. At least the same steps and amount of work is the same. Just rent a set of spring compressors from Auto Zone for free (deposit is refunded upon return) and you'll be set.
