Im trying to install my rear tein coilovers, but I need to use the oem strut mount...I broke off the top of the strut (not down to the thread though) while I was trying to hold it and turn the strut mount.

Could I use a visegrip pliers and hold the actual rod of the strut and turn the top bolt? And isnt it recommended not to re-use the same strut mount bolt?

i dont completely understand your question.

are you talking about how the shaft spins when you turn the top bolt?? you dont disassemble the strut before you take it out of the car.

pictures? i could help you if i understood what you meant by "broke off the top of the strut"

Yeah, how the shaft spins when you turn the top bolt. Ive installed coilovers before on my civic last year, but I couldnt remember how I got the top bolt off. And I wouldnt try to take apart the assembly with it still on the car, lol. (although I can understand the warning and newbies doing it, just from lack of knowledge)

But I went and bought some visegrip pliers, and it work like a charm.

Thanks anyway.

Well your taking the top strut mount off from your stock to your Tein's right. Make sure you use a spring compressor (duh), then if you arn't goin to reuse the stock struts go for it with the visegrips. You could reuse the strut mount if it ain't broke and if you got Teins why don't you get pillow mounts?
