Hi guys,

I'm trying to install some new Tokico blues on my sig other's 94 Q45 (non active suspension). Got the front drivers side strut off today, and noticed that the boot between the spring and the strut is, well, shot to hell--it's actually in about four pieces. Ouch! This was something not ordered from Joe. My question is, do I need to just hold everything until I can get replacement boots, assuming same amount of wear on the other three? I sorta think that these boots have a significant function and while I'm having fun with turning a few wrenches, I'm not thinking that pulling off struts again is a good use of my time. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not having the boots means you'll be doing this job sooner, since unprotected strut rods don't last as long as protected ones. If you can wait a couple days till you get all the parts, I'd recommend it. Replace all the rubber on the strut, not just the bootsl.

Thanks a lot for the quick response...that's what I was thinking. Will order the rubber Monday.

Get everything rubber that wears and replace it, including front sway bar bushings while you are at it. You will thank yourself later, if tension rod bearings, upper arms, etc. are up to snuff.

Thanks, man. We did the links, tension rods and steering boots already. Just waiting on the boots and other rubber stuff ordered from Joe. Can't wait to feel those Blues on the road!

You will love them. I can't help but notice how uncontrolled other, even new cars, are.
