i have the gc coilovers and originally used tokico blues with my setup all the camber and toe front and rear was done properly but the shocks have blown in like 6 months. i know i should go with kyb's or koni's or something but since cash flow is limitec but customization is an easy option for me i have some questions.1. could i just take a stock set of shocks and simply have the shaft shortened by welding or the end machined on lower on the shaft to eliminate bottoming out and constant motion at the bottom of the shock?2. could i just find a set of heavy duty shocks by another company like gabriel(which i can get really cheap through work) and get a set of struts or shocks with the same dimensions but just shorter?sorry if these are stupid im just trying to understand if the bottom play is causing the shocks to blow fast and is so how to easily solve the prob.thanxluigi

In the long run it's going to be safer and more cost effective to get a damper that is designed for a lowered suspension. Any time you limit the amount of travel in the damper you have to have the ability to adjust the valving or they are going to bottom out and blow.

your best bet is going to be to get a set of KYB buzz specs or other "short stroke" shock/strut(insert possibly) instead of trying to modify gabriel crap or stock style tokico blues.-chet
