im stuck trying to decide on which strut bar to get. are they even any different. it doesnt seem any one could be better then the other. its a pretty basic thing. also how much will it improve my ride? i dont have springs or shocks yet but i do have 8" wide rims with toyo FX-4 tires.....

I MADE MY OWN rear STB for my S13, and it works great. I bought a generic front one off Ebay for $40. It works great. It's just a metal bar connecting two sides of the suspension. The only real ones that improve are the three way tie bars that tie into the firewall and such.

yea, there's a huge difference in them from my experience. if you just go out and buy a $25 strut bar, then it could twist up and be a pile of junk within a week. your chassis does actually flex a lot more than you think. strut bars help to stiffen the chassis.

I bought a cheap one for 20 bucks on ebay, and I have had it installed for over 4 months now. I know I take turns fast and this strut bar hasn't bent or anything.

I dont' think there is a difference b/n them except for 2 things...

1. Bragging rights, everyone wants better, and better usually cost more

2. Unless you are taking turns at 200mph on a daily basis, I really doubt there is a substantial difference.

the more expensive ones are lighter, stronger, and are shaped better...go with the cusco ones...they are amazing. You get what you pay for in the Car industry.

well, from my experience it has been totally different. i had a cheap(40.00) pilot bar that got bent. i've known 3 different guys that had problems with those crappy ractive bars. i think there was someone that complained about APC too, but that's pretty obvious.

cusco really is that badass, huh? I haven't got my s14 yet, but doing some homework, and since I'm going with the jic's, I thought the front/rear carbon fiber ones would be nice. I would go with a name brand strut bar, but my going for the carbon fiber is purely bragging rights.

Those eBay ones are pieces of crap... I got a generic one for $30 shipped and the damn thing didn't even fit right.... my hood would flex when I shut it! I just eventually broke down and bought the one off PDM Racing when they had their special.... fits and works great.

yeah, i was goin to get it, but Crutchfield decided not to allow me to turn in my other headunit that f***ed up only a few weeks after i got it towards the CDA-7893, so im still gettin one, but its on hold till i get some other stuff done. I guess i should change that, o well, its still coming...

YES, THOSE! who makes those?? for the front, i mean. the rear with the two vertical supports seems kind of useless. why would you need to secure it to the fibreboard floor?? maybe im missing something. but does anyone know who makes these, or r they custom?

what types of Cusco strut bars did you get Dan??..and what site you get them from??....i've made up my mind after seaching strut bars on this forum and i'm going to go with Cusco...the Alu-Carbon Type OS looks sweet a.s.s...but i think i'll go with the Aluminum Type OS in the front and ear....there's a place that can get them from Japan...the price is good but i'm not sure about shipping...

$126.00 Type OS Front and Rear Strut (each)$151.00 Front Alu-Carbon OS Type-A

http://www.takakaira.com/

another reason i went with Cusco is that they have Anti-Sway Bars as well...does anyone have any reviews on the Cusco Anti-Sawy Bars..???..???

i don't think there's much differences between name brand and just generic ones.. i bought a cheap one from ebay too. it helps little bit. it's not a huge difference. i think the differences are weight and looks... maybe u can tell any differences if u really race, hardcore

Isn't it true that on the base model S14s w/o stock sways, u need the swaybar mounting plates? i havent looked cuz im lazy, but i assumed u did.
