I was talking to a friend of mine that knows alot about cars and he told me that any strut bar that I find online whether it cost $20 or $200 it is all the same metal and will work exactly the same. That all I am really paying for is the label. Is this true?

I've read completely opposite responses on this topic. Some members say it's just a bar and others say it's the strength of the bar and the braces/connectors. I used to think that it was just a bar or metal but after doing some research it does come down to the bar strength and braces. Some bars are thicker and some braces/connectors are just more solid with much less flex. So there has to be some difference in performance...right?

Basically it's the shape of the bar that correlates to it's stiffness. IMO I would opt for a oval or flat type instead of just round.

Most times you are paying for a name but you can get good stuff for cheap. Don't get the ugly cheap Matrix ones or anything like that but SSAutochrome makes good ones for both the S13 and S14.

at the same time though, if you've taken a hack saw to some of these stb's you will see a difference on the inside as well. some are just flat out hollow and some have bars inside that run the length of the stb, I guess kinda like this ( | | ) <--if you can imagine the top and bottom of that sealed up...

Yeah I have seen that myself, good point I forgot about that.
