I'm putting front and rear strut tower braces on my 92 se, and I've heard I should replace the bolts in the tower once I take them out. the bars didn't come with any, and all I can tell from teh manual is that they are 12mm??

anyone done this, have advice, etc? also, do I need to have the wheels off teh ground when I put them on, how much tension do you all suggest (pushing out) any other helpful hints?

thanks,

i just installed the strut tower braces on my 91se, basically the same, but no you don't need new bolts for the stb's just be careful on the back stb not to drop the bolts into the interior, its really hard to get them out. anyway, as far as tension, i just unscrewed mine out until it fit on each end then tightened up, it all depends on how stiff you want your ride. hope i helped.

For the adjustale STB, it's all about preference. Some people like the strut towers to be pulled together, but on the other hand, there are some people who like them pushed apart. I personally like them w/o any tension (neutral, I guess, but not to the point where it's loose). It's really all up to you and you're preferences and/or driving style. Everbody has their own personal preference on what they think is a good handling car. Just try out different settings and see which one suits you. For me, at least, the funest part about tuning car isn't just bolting new parts on my car (not saying that I don't enjoy it), but it's adjusting everything to my liking. Isn't that the whole point of getting adjustable parts?Hope you enjoy your new purchase.

The purpose of a strut tower bar is to prevent the chasis to 'flex' into itself. This means that each side moves towards the center. This means the bar wouldn't have to be tight. It should be sorta snug though. Hope that helps
