Hey guys, I'm getting a strong smell coming from my a/c. I've checked the battery to make sure it was ok, and I've had a deodorizer sprayed through the system. I was told to make sure I turn off the a/c before turning off the car and that helped slightly what could be the cause?? Could not find the last posting about this problem, sorry.

Replace your battery. Another member had the same issue.

Check. I thought I read that on eariler post. The cables are clean and I'm not getting any delays in starting. I'll get it tested and swap if needed. Tks!!

It may also be mold from the moisture; a problem noted on the list before. You might also try running the heater at max for a bit-kill the buggers!

I wouldn't replace it just because of bad smell inside... The owner that had to change his battery also had other issues with battery not just smell inside cabin... Just a heads up!

Maybe your drain is clogged. If so, water is not properly leaving the HVAC unit and mold is growing (even with one round of deodorizing spray). If anyone can provide the location of this drain, you might be able to blow it clean using compressed air. Then neutralize again with a spray & change the air filter.

Do this! Mine stank and I replaced it at 98,000miles. I smelled it primarily with AC. Let's just say it was Nissan OEM original to the car and overdue. It's 20 mins of labor and under $20 for the cost of the filter.

Strong egg smell usually implies sulfur, which implies the battery. I would at leat smell in the battery compartment wheter there were other battery symptoms or not. That having been said, the filter could be holding a smell, and since it was brought up, I can tell you that the condenser drain ends behind the passenger side front wheel on the 2006 M45.
