is it possible to lengthen the stroke of a CA18DET by using the crank out of a CA20.

It might be possible but you would need to got some rod and piston custom since the stock rod and piston won't fit.

I'm pretty sure the CA20 crank uses a six bolt flywheel, so youd have to change that too.

It's not nice to stroke your crank in public.

drops in, bearings are fine, flywheel is six-bolt, custom pistons are needed . Oh yes and search.

ca20 crank works in ca block, custom rods and pistons are needed get the ca20 crank specs and then the ca18 block specs and make ur rods and pistons from there! OS gikken makes a ca20 flywheel or full twin plate clutch kit and tomei makes a ca20 flywheel to be used with regular clutch and presure plates! there for a cheaper route to get more displacment just bore .40 over and ur up to 1.9L i have looked into the ca20 way and i actually have a full ca20 at home which i have ripped apart and mocked up all the ****, but time was more of a factor here and i need to get motor runnng instead of wait for parts! but yeah the ca20 crank will work to answer ur question! u can also go the expensive way and offset grind ur stock ca18 crank :O but thats big bucks!

the CA20 uses a cast crank, it won't take the power of turboing it. you won't need custom rods but you will need pistons with a different pin height

And THIS is why you don't use the CA20 crank. You'd be better off having one custom made. then it would be 8 bolt and fully counterbalanced and it would be forged.

Isn't it a good idea to apply lubricant when stroking your crank?

the CA20 crank i have looks forged, there must be two types if others are seeing cast ones. A freind of mine had the Tomei CA20 kit and it was pulling down around 400hp all day long. I am not sure if the crank was Tomei really or just a repacked OEM CA20 crank. Kameari sells a 3.1 L crank that is just an OEM LD28 crank so it is possible. Nissan cranks are usually pretty tough.

I've compared the Tomei kit to a nissan one. it's different in a few subtle ways. shame really it would be brilliant if it was that easy
