Monday when I have a shop to work in I'll be taking the plastic molding parts out of my engine bay, what should I take out, what should I leave in?

IF you're doing it for weight savings, you wont be saving much. at all. theres the cowl pieces, which you kind of need, the engine cover, battery cover, dude seriously, you could save more weight by draining your washer fluid and making sure your coolant reservoir is closer to 'Low' than 'full'

Just save yourself some time and take a dump. That's more than what you'll be shedding with removing those panels...

It's not really for weight reduction, I just don't like looking at plastic moldings over my engine.

So, if you're removing it simply because you don't like looking at it, why are you seeking our opinions on what to remove?? Just curious.

I wanted to know if there was anything that served more than a cosmetic purpose that I should not be removing.

oooooh. well in that case the plastic cowl pieces at the bottom of the windshield should remain in place. Removed, it causes a tacky appearance from a forward view, but it also holds the washer lines and helps seal the bottom of the windshield, cosmetically at least. The engine cover is the only cosmetic piece. The lower engine covers are there with aerodynamic purpose, as well as protection.
