Here's the whole story,I purchased the pulsar off a old man who had planed on fixing the car but never got around to it,It had been stored in his garage since 1997 so 15 years! So at this point his wife just wanted it gone!lol I picked up the car for 325 witch is a hell of a deal for a barn find! From my understanding he said he was driving it in 97 and it just stopped running so he had it towed back to his garage and that is where it sat untouched for all these years! I just got the timing cover off and discovered that 3/4 of the timing belt teeth were stripped off! What im wondering is,Is the belt being stripped the same as a belt breaking? Will i need a new cylinder head? Please if you have any info on this matter let me know? Thanks

Replace the timing belt and see if it starts. I've seen interference engines survive belt breaks, but not often. (Yeah i know it didn't break but stripped teeth can have the same effect.)

If it starts and runs like crap, do a compression test, that'll tell you if you need head work.

Thank you so much for helping me out im in the process of changing the belt now and the old belt is so screwed!lol When i got the car i knew it was not running but did not know why at that point i turned it over only to hear the winding of the starter but no engine noise,No pings,No bangs or scratching noise's!I am curious if when the belt stripped if the cams were in the right position to avoid the valves from being hit by the piston/pistons? Could that be even possible?

I guess if everything was perfect it could avoid getting hit. The starter might not be engaging the flywheel correctly and just spinning. If you don't have a compression tester they aren't too expensive, and most auto parts stores will loan them out.

Everything was turning just not the cams because of the stripped belt i think the reason i only heard the starter was because the intake and exhaust valve's were not opening and closing due to the stripped belt.I feel like i got lucky but maybe not i will know soon! I will let you know within a week.
