i just took apart my rear end that came apart on me on the dyno and come to see metal shavigns every where, the pinion is smoother then a strippers a$$, and the ring gear has more teeth missing then are intact

has this happened to anyone on here before? any input would be helpful!

are there any companys that sell a hardened ring n pinion set for the r200 housing?

That's exactly what happened to me. I think you are suffering from Tomuchhorsepower-itis. It's a terrible and debilitating disease

I think my new combination of bigger turbo and MT drag radials did it in. I put in another one and haven't had any problems, yet...................

i told you that 2.3 gear was entirely too long for the amount of hp your pushing....sounds like its time for your to switch to the beefier R230 dif and new gear set...

i feel ur pain. one day it seemed like my clutch was slipping at high rpms which didnt make any sense to me cuz it only has like 3000 miles on it but i was also hearin like some grindin noises in the rear end. So i thought maybe me CV joints were takin a ****. Poped the axles out and decided to drop the diff to change the fluid and found every gear on the pinion rounded off on my r200... good thing i had spare in the loft

waitin on that to happen again... stupid Rb's and too much torque

I priced out a ring and pinion set here at my dealership. They offer 4.36 and 4.63 ring and pinion sets. Its a "Nissan Motorsports" ring and pinion, not sure if they're hardened or at all stronger than stock ones. My cost was $375 if I remember correctly.

Would you like me to do some more research on them for you?

Are you running a 2 or 3 speed trans here? I don't get why you want that rear end, that is WAY too high for street driving.

Do you mind if I ask you what sort of power and torque you were making when this happened? I'm starting to research for a VH swap into a car that comes with the R200 stock and I'm planning on making 500-600whp and tq when all is said and done. I'm coming from the FWD Nissan world so my knowledge of the capabilities of each specific Nissan rear diff is very limited right now.

Does this seem to be a pretty common failure at this sort of power level? It's looking more and more like I'd be needing to check out the feasibility of an R230 swap...

i was beating the hell out of the car (launches) on a set of MTs but idk if thatd cause it or not, i just installed a q45 gear set and scratched the 3.92 ratio for a 3.54 (finally) so ive got of my top end back.

not to sure about the r230 rear end power levels

R230 is supposed to be significantly more beefy than the R200. It is definately physically bigger than the 200. IIRC the output shafts are a lot bigger which is typically where R200 guys have issues.
