Last week my friend and I were going to fix the lifter tick. While we were taking off the rocker arm shaft we found out that two of the rocker arm shaft bolts were stripped. So we decided to put the everything back on and hope for the best (lol at that one). I took her out on a drive and punched it and then all of a sudden the engine lost 50% power and sounded worse than a semi truck.

-So here's my question: Is there anything between the rocker arm shaft bolts and the cylinder head, or do they just go straight into the head? If they do what do you guys suggest that I do. Its a KA24E with 206,000 miles. I was thinking about either going for a engine swap (to a DE or maybe stick to the E) or just replacing the head.

Every hole in my KAE head for the rockers was stripped. All you do is drill the threads out, tap it, and stick in a helicoil. Thats what I did (so do many people) and it works great. Not to mention that w/ helicoils, it's accually stronger. Think about it.

Yup thats the only way you will fix it. Heli coils are very strong. Shouldnt have any problems as long as you drill it straight and insert the heli coil straight.
