Im putting on my new exhaust and every bolt came off with ease except the last 2, the ones bolted on to the cat. I used a cheater bar for one and ended up stripping it. Ive searched this and there isnt anyone really in my predicament. I dont have a blow torch, I dont have a dremel. What should I do?And getting a tool to adjust to the strip wont neccessarily mean I can get this nut off. It is really rusted on there tight.I may be able to find a friend who has a dremmel. If so, what do I do. I really dont want to spend 50 bucks to have a mechanic put it on since my only problem is 2 ****in nuts.

put a vise grip on there as tight as you can get it, and screw it out. put an a$$load of PB blaster on there too.

it'd be a good idea to soak the stud with wd-40, rust remover, and whatever else is known to be used to try to get it easier to remove. the stud is seized in there by rust and is going to be really hard to get torquing.

drill-out tools are not very good at removing studs when they're seized up because they can break pretty easily. rust treatment stuff might help a little with trying to get it going.

Well me and my friend hacksawed it off. Now the bolt is stuck in the whole still. I was thinking about just getting a drill and drilling it out. But i dont know.

you could go ahead and ditch the cat. and buy a high flow, or test pipe. while youre under there, you might as well.

i still think wd-40 soak would be a good idea, you wanna treat the rust too.

when you get the studs out, you might wanna retap the threads, get a thread tapper. your threads might be ruined and they will ruin the threads on your new bolt if they're forced into the hole.

maybe you can also get some anti-seize lubricant to keep the bolts from getting seized by heat and rust etc.

Don't bother with WD-40. It's crap as far as using it as a penetrating oil. I use some stuff called Pro-Lube(comes with the Dura-Lube engine treatment kit, I don't endorse Dura-Lube, a friend of mine uses a lot of it and has tons of the Pro-lube stuff sitting around).

If you have access to Metrinch tools, and there is enough of the flat part of the nut still left, try it. Metrinch is great for this kind of stuff. Make sure to use a good penetrating oil with it though. Makes a huge difference. But then again, the damage may already have been done and the threads may have been damaged already. In this case, even with a good grip, you may just end up ripping off the stud.

You can also get a nut breaker. But somtimes, it's hard to fit into tight areas. Most auto shops will have this tool.

Ya, I already used like half a bottle of Liquid Wrench. Thats not really the problem. Just cant get the bolt out of the threads. But Im not a pro at this stuff. Im a noob. So Ill prolly just waste my money by bringing it to the mechanic :( I think I made it worse when I sawed of the nut and 1/3 of the bolt.
