stretching 14 inch tires over 15 inch rims

what are the pros/cons of this? i've seen it done on many cars and was wondering the purpose.

i've seen it done on some japanese drifting videos like option. also people on club4ag do it.

Nope, the tries are 195/50/15.what people in club 4ag or japan do is use wheels with big width say 8 or 9" to fit samll tires. The oval diameter is the same. Let me give you a example;195/50/15 tires fit in 15x8j rims; got the picture??the tires look like a balloon, and you need tires with very stiff sidewall to do that.

For my AE86, I've tried 185/60/14 tires to fit 14x7 rims with 0 offset. Besides, it looks mean, I feel it gives a little bit more stability at corner. Hum, I might be wrong on this.

Somehow, keep sidewall perpendicular to wheel vertical edge would provide better stiffness. With combination of small tires plus big width wheel, it seems defy this law.

I guess, it is just a matter of looking.You might post this Q on CLUB 4AG, some well-knownledged people like MOTO might be able to answer this question.
