How much HP and/or boost can the Ka24de block hold? What's are its cylinder's made out of? Tried searching and couldn't get what I was looking for. Thanks for the info.

I'm building a drag civic and we resleeved its alluminum sleeves with steel cause they can't take much over 15psi really.

New to Nissans, just got a 240 for daily driver.

all the KA's are iron blocks, everything that I have read has said that sleeving them isnt necessary, and that the weakest thing about the bottom end are the ring lands.

Currently the highest I've seen out of a KA block was 504rwhp, I suspect that number will jump to at least 600 relatively soon as there is nothing weak about the KA block, it's an all cast iron construction, cylinders included. Also, all the main caps are tied together with a girdle, which is a good thing :)

Thats great to hear then. When you say bottom end, you mean the rods & pistons, or do they have weak cranks too? Thanks for the info.[

No weak cranks (wow, there is about 3 threads talking about cranks at the moment!) the pistons are cast and hence, a little on the weak side (although there are people with 350whp on stock blocks). The rods are pretty sturdy as well, although for peace of mind I replaced both when I rebuilt my engine.

Nathan, do u happen to remember what thread it was that talked bout that 504rwhp? I remember reading it, but can't remember what the title was...it was on FA wasn't it?

Last I read a stock SR had just hit 600whp (sae corrected) in tampa, so looks like the stock bottom end sr vs ka (vs ca?) wars will keep on rolling...

thank you boostfed for the link...

question to WD, I know you had mentioned that you wanted to build the fastest ka24det. Do u think you'll be going for a dyno queen ka as well?
