Not to say I don't get a little heavy footed now and then. I have also spent a good amount of time out on the track seeing as there are 3 major circuits close to where I live. I just hate it when everyone gets so self righteous and condescending as if they are just model citizens when it comes to them driving on the streets.
I'm sure "all" of us have some sort of history on the streets - from the occassional 'heavy foot' to the downright careless speed-demons. I mean face it, anybody that has a performance car and drives it like a grandma, shouldn't have it in the first place (for various reasons). As Badbob stated, the thread was created to see people doing stupid sh*t ... key word, "stupid". Humans live and learn; it's a natural trait. Yes, we all like to find a place to be surly sometimes.
I have autocrossed a lot, drag and road course raced in sanctioned events and I owned a speed shop in the past. Our drag car performed professionaly in 99-02, so I've been around a "lot" of stupidity ... both on and off the track. Will I preach that I am a model citizen? No ... but I'm definitely not a model idiot, nor a nominee for the Darwin Awards. As an advocate for safety, and having seen the damage that street "stupidity" can do (and losing two friends fatally because of it), I won't stand aside and listen to the idiots that post something about "residential" drifting (assuming that was meant as aggressive driving in an occupied neighborhood), nor condone these bimbos that video their own lack of better judgement on open public roads with innocent by-standers. My example was the video of the BMW drifting all the way around the on-ramp and narrowly missing several cars ... unacceptable.
BTW, many people here have shared their "been there done that" situations. One would like to think that by sharing those 'not so smart' times, that they are educating others. So I don't see in this thread anyone being righteous and condescending model citizen ... however the right thing to do is to educate the ones (young or older) about the dangers they are imposing on others and themselves.
So in general I always say take it to the track, strap on a helmet and your harness and wreck it there ... not on the streets where our families drive.
