Well i decided to start my 240sx off with suspension and derusting the underbody at the same time.

So far im doing the back,

Lower toe arms- meganupper control arms- meganEnergy bushing kitK sport coiloversand uhh i think its the upper traction (thx) rod (rear) but im de rusting it and spraying it with rust olem :]

Front

New powerbrace ( its bent, has a burn hole im guessing from the engine fluids)Powerbrace reinforcement (found it at nicos fabrication forum )New tension rods- prob used from nico members or some megansTie rod ends- still deciding if i really need these ( need some ADVISE- im confused about what they do! )Going to toss the rest in some clr and scrub off rest of rust.

Brakes- also need help

Prob gona go with some z32 brakes, and new rotors.New lines - im guessing i need them, i dont want do die

And the really annoying thing the brake dust shield, will z32's fit or do i have to take it off

but i dident really look into brakes yet, focusing on suspension first!

Heres some pictures so people look at the thread

Heres one right when we took the slut off , took forever and had to get new wrench tools to fit right. Looking for a new fuel tank if anyone has one also.

here she is from the front, ill start engine build thread once i get there because i know im gona have a **** load of problems.

Also anyone have tips on what de rusting liquid to use? im doing CLR which isnt bad but there might be something stronger out there

Wire wheel on a drill is pretty strong, might work better than CLR.

K sports suck.

'upper rear tension rod' are called traction rods

aftermarket tie rod ends relieve pressure from your tie rods bowing up when you lower your car

Megan is not that great, and if you're going to spend the money on the parts, get the right stuff right away..

I got Powered by MAX and it's nice and beefy.. Megan has really scrawny parts that look like they could be bent by hand.

Don't do Megan.

And get everything for the Z32 brakes. You wont regret it. My buddy has them and they're impossible to lock up..

At least don't get k-sport coils. They all blow, in both senses. Megan is gonna be the best bang for the buck, but if you can get the better stuff. Other than that it looks good. Good luck on the de-rusting...it's serious business haha.

if you are talking about ksports...then you are an idiot. multiple people told you that they are crap. i fell for the "omg only 700 for coils" thing on my old hatchback... KSPORTS SUCK. they will blow/leak on you. and i will be here to be the first to say "i told you so."

and teddy is right. powered by max is AMAZING. beefy, quality, and affordable. i can say this cus i own nearly all the suspension parts PBM makes and i have def put them through their paces. megan is garbage in comparison. dont cheap out on suspension... if that fails on you... your *** is toast.

and ill be willing to bet youll wanna do z32 brakes til you realize how much it costs to do PROPERLY, then youll bail and just put oem status pepboys pads and ebay cross-drilled/slotted/garbage rotors and think you have an upgrade.

reality check. doing things properly either requires money or a homie hookup. without either of those, you are ending up compromising quality. do things once, do things right, and let others buy the cheap stuff and make the mistake so you dont have to.

Yup yup. When I was doing my suspension parts shopping, I was looking at Megan, SPL and PBM. SPL parts looked amazing, but pricing was a bit high for me. Megan was very affordable, but then I looked at PBM and woah! Perfect. The parts look good, work good and make Megan parts look like crap.

Let's compare:

MEGAN

PBM

See what I mean???

I got a question for MrGreenEyes and Teddy or anybody else that knows... What makes one set of coilover better suited for drifting than others? I.e. PBM vs Stance? or Tein Super Drift vs JIC FLT1 or 2?

I'm really interested in PBM, but I want to avoid coils that having drifty charactistics...

Sorry for the threadjack...

PBM vs. Stance I'd choose PBM, unless you get Stance GR +, which I hear are acceptable... Powered by MAX are great coilovers if you want your car to be low (I wish I had them..) and since I trust PBM components, I would say they're good coilovers. I'd rock them.

From what I've heard, JICs rust (but that's just an unconfirmed rumor).. Both are good coilovers, but they're both relatively pricey.

So there is nothing inherent in PBM's design that would make it a bad choice for, say, HPDE or autox as opposed to drifting?

Basically I don't wanna drift.

I'm pretty sure that a coilover is a coilover. You just have to tune them when they're on the car to your liking..

So, as long as the quality isn't absolute shiite, they're all ok. You just gotta adjust them to grip or drift with supporting mods like ruca's, tie rod ends and lsd's...

Ok thanks!

Ha, comparing coilovers now is a joke. The only thing really to compare is durability. They are all really just junk but... megans, pbm, stance, kts... they last and don't blow immediately so they are acceptable to buy.

People making a big deal about pbm is a joke... pretty much same crap (oh besides they use cool colors and they market well to the drift crowd) and if your "reasoning" is they are beefy... then get endura-techs, not well known yet but far better design and more beefy.

I'm not here to argue but seriously, these threads are hilarious.
