strange wot 16psi fueling(?) issue. rough idle

Im not getting a lot of activity where i posted this originally so i'm trying here.
Post subject: So my car has been acting strange lately.....16psi wot issue
so i currently have my 1 bar tial kicked up to about 15.5psi.

ok so every once in a while, usually after hard acceleration or if i try to get on the car before properly letting it warm up when i am in decel under these conditions listed it will pop badly. this is usually fixed by a quick turning off of the car and turning back on while coasting.

lately this has not been solving the issue entirely. my tune has not changed in over 3 months. i have not done anything new to the car. so it usually pops on decel now and on accel (anything over 50% throttle) it will sputter badly. it runs fine normally. although i do have a rough idle. in addition when i first start the car (ever since forever) i have to rev it real quick cuz the lights are dim. which would also cause issue im having now. sputtering, popping, etc. once revved they will shine bright and car runs better. (battery is in trunk)

i did a compression test today. everything good. replaced the plugs with br7es (had br8es). no change. ignition parts are newish (maybe 2k miles). plug wires have the usual soft feel on cylinders 2 and 3 due to the top mount jgs mani cooking them (theyre brand new and auto bone hates me using warranty returns). i also tried reburning the map onto a different chip. on other turbo cars of mine i had an issue with chips crapping out and had to reburn them. that is not the case this time though.

anyone know what could be causing this? any tips?

you probably developed a light exhaust leak post-turbo... I had that issue. In boost it doesn't pop because the exhaust is getting a lot of positive flow/pressure and won't suck in any outside air (which has oxygen in it). But when you let off, your rich/gassy exhaust is no longer in high pressure and flows through your hot exhaust pipes where you probably have a leak somewhere that it draws in some outside air... the oxygen+gas+heat combusts and you get pops...

I would guess it is between the cat and the turbo.

As for the rough idle it sounds like your alternator is going out and you're not getting enough idle-power to really drive the spark, etc. Get your alternator checked out. If you gotta replace, go for the Quest alternator swap.

i do have a pinhole in the downpipe. and its possible that the gaskets may be leaking as well. alternator going bad, huh? hmm. would that cause the studdering and the weird gauge issue?
