So I'll try to explain this as good as I can. I have a lot of exparence with cars, and a lot of experience with house electrical systems. But I can't seem to figure out wear to even start.
Car is a s14 usdm zinki 95 I think
fully loaded se
Factory 5-speed
S13 sr20det redtop
Wiring specialties harness
Denso 550's
Z32 maf
Aem uego
Power fc
Lots of stero stuff
Lots of other crap that shouldn't matter for this
My work is 50 miles each way and it was drizzling. I had the tunes blasting and all of a sudden my deck turns off all the way then back on. It didn't delete all my setting so it was only the acc wire that wouldve done out. I get concerned so I turn the bass knob all the way off. Another 30 seconds or so it does it again. So now I turn the deck off. 30 seconds later I notice the car feels rough, wideband goes full lean, and it happens right with the low speed wipers. Not cool.
So the low and high wipers work fine until you turn them off then it does it. This all happens at idle with the car running, it almost stalls. If I unplug the wiper amp everythings perfect (besides not having intermediate and the wipers stoping in the middle of the windshield if you don't time it right). So this gives me what I think is enough info to troubleshoot.
I figure it was a bad mechanical piece in the system. I have two friends wither perfect working s14's. One base, one se. I've tried the motors out or both and the switch and amp out of the se in every possible configuration and nothing changes. The motors not a fun job either.
So now I'm thinking harness or grounds. The harness is only a few months old and I'm 99% sure everything worked fine before. I'm in Los angeles and it doesn't rain much. So I haven't had to use the wipers much until the month or so. I redid all visable engine and engine bay grounds.
Per the fsm there's only a few wires responcable for the auto stop and low speed operation. I printed out the pages and have read over them many times and can't figure out where to start. Every time I think I understand I go to bypass the switch I blow a fuse.
Being in the car for such a long commute trust me I need the intermediate wipers. I'm not in a hurry but if I have to I'll pay someone to trouble shoot it. But I don't see what I shouldn't be able to figure it out myself I went to a vocational highschool and graduated high in my class in the electrical program. It was all based on 120/240 volt systems, but I understood theory and that should get me through this.
So any help/guidance/ideas/exparence with this or a similar problem would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
My more direct questions are-
I notice power seem to always be supplied to the motor and it's grounded through the swith (on column)...?- so where it the actual wire that grounds the switch to the chassiss?
It seems that the only things affected are the injectors.... Although on the high way with loud tecno and a large amp and subs in the trunk the deck did turn off that hasn't happened during the drive way tests with the volume down. If I monitor voltage on my power fc or with a multmeter across my battery it sees no change when the wipers goes, afr's go real lean and the car almost stalls. As soon as they hit the bottom of the windshield everything peachy again. So is there any wires that like only the injectors and wipers share?
I'm stumped.
Sorry for the long description. I've never really had to ask for help like this before. I'm crazy sick right now, and on some pretty good pills for a bad back injury I'm dealing with which makes this all way less fun then it would normally be anyway.
