So i finally finished going turbo on my ka24de 240. it was running well. idle was around 14.5 to 14.9 (i have an aem wideband) yesterday i went out and started it and i was getting readings of around 12 to 12.8 but the car was idling perfect and had great throttle response so i thought maybe something was going on with the wideband. no bogging of any sort. well tonight i went out to work on it some more, started it up, let it get to normal opp temp and was around 12 to 13 but when i pressed the gas it had good response but the tach dropped to around 400 rpm. It never died but felt like it was about to. Its blowing smoke now (im guessing from all the fuel) and then i figured it was time to ask what is going on? This is my first 240 so any help would be great. I have not changed the fuel filter, running emance tune. everything was working great till tonight..i know a lot of people dont like emance but this has seemed to work real well so far. I am recirculating the bov also. could it be the fuel filter or not having an adjustable fpr in there. i do have one i just have not had time to put it on. Any help would be amazing!

Running rich could be a few things. Switching over to a 255lph fuel pump and not having an adjustable fpr could cause you to run a bit rich, but I don't see it causing it to hit the 12's. But swap that dude out if you have one. My guess is a leaking fuel injector, at the oring. Pull the rail, turn the key to acc and check for leaks. Repair as required.

Might as well pull the ECU and make sure the chip is securely mounted in place.

Pull the plugs and hit them with a brass brush, clean all the carbon off from running so rich. I set the gap to .035 to start.

I use a larger gap to start with because a larger gap makes a larger spark. It just takes more amperage to cross the gap. Sometimes the cylinder pressures under boost will prevent the spark from being able to effectively bridge the gap. At this point you lower the gap. Could be .028 is your sweet spot, but it won't hurt to mess with.

alright so i put my fpr in and adjusted it to the correct settings and its idling fine and is reving up good until i hit NOT and then when revved up it drops down to like 500 rpm and sounds like its gonna die but doesnt...i did play with the idle a bit awhile back so i think i lowered it to much but could it possibly be my timing thats off.....the wideband is still reading 11.4-12.3 sorry this is slow developing. I work 3 jobs so im using what time i have for this. thanks again!

No need to apologize man, my S14 project has been underway basically since I got her in 02.

A big sway in timing usually only makes a .5 or so difference in the AFR, usually to the rich side iirc.

If you're running that rich still, pull the fuel rail assembly, turn the key to acc mode (just before start) and see if any of the injectors are leaking. If they are, you need new orings. Take your time, reply when you can, we're not going anywhere.

Another note. I talked to jason and he said to pull the codes. I dont have a check engine light on though, I am now running in the 14s for the first minute, and once its at NOT its running at 13.7 after about 5 min. of idling it starts to have white smoke out the back..im not losing any coolant and i dont see any signs of a bad head gasket..sorry to make more posts, just relaying what im seeing.

will a blown turbo cause white smoke and a rich condition???? Im starting to think that might be the problem. i just took my intake off and i had some in and out shaft play. air/fuel reading is still like 12.3
