I have a ticking noise coming from under my valve cover....I changed the oil....flushed the oil system w/ a cleaner...still didn't go away....i inspected the cams a bit more and noticed a small chip on the intake cam...thinking that this was the problem, i replaced the cam...well i just started it up again and the same ticking noise is still there...it's not really noticable when i am idling but when i give it some gas, about 2000rpm and higher, it starts ticking and speeds up with the rpms. Please help...i'm getting frustrated as hell!!! Not sure what to do now!

Hydraulic lash adjustors usually make a ticking sound that increases with RPM's. Doesnt mean they are going bad, just means they need to be re-bled.

I was driving the car kinda hard right before it started making the ticking sound. I thought that it was caused by my cam being chipped but i replaced it and still have the same sound. Could me driving the car hard cause air to get into the HLAs? Anything else it may be?

Timing chain hitting the upper guide.

My guess is the adjusters. just pull them out and bleed them according to the FSM and take it from there.

Hey, I just started my motor for the first time and im having the same problem as you did. A wierd ticking noise coming from under valve and i cant get it to stop. Heavythrottle recommend me to let the motor run for 30 minutes so the lifters can be lubrcated but that didnt help either. did you ever got yours fixed. Please reply back asap..thank man "Im scared ><

Thanks for the reply but I got mines fixed. "If anyone out there has the same problem, here's how I did it."

Caution - Even the smallest dent in the oil pan can oil starve your motor so if in doult replace it or dent it out.

Ran 3.5 US QRT. 5w 30 moble fully synthetic oil with filter and let the engine run for 30 minutes to gather all the gunks and build ups that the motor has while it was sit out for such a long time, who knows. Drain it out and put another fresh 3.5 Moble 1 Fully synthetic oil <--- doing this to be on the safe side because oil is very important for these Sr's and turbo motors. Filter can also be replace if you want but for me I replaced it with a new filter. If your doing this at the same time let the motor cool off before operating. Now start the engine again and idle or rev the motor at 2 rpm on and off for about 20 minutes. You should hear the tapping noise fading or quiets down once you rev the engine to 2 rpm. If after doing this and the tapping noise is still there then you might have other problems other then lifters. Hope this works, Good luck...........
