when i brake harder than normal, theres a strange thump in the front of the car... like something hitting something... its like going over a speed bump at 40mph, and when the front wheels hit the speed bump. thats the kind of thump its sounds/feels like. any idea what it could be

Tell me more about your car - do you have coilovers or other suspension? Any aftermarket suspension links?

How does the thump occur? Does it happen RIGHT as you hit the brakes, or does it happen in the sense that you'll hit the brakes, the car will dive forward, and then the thump will occur as the car is diving?

Check for loose caliper bolts or something else obviously loose.

That's my first thought.

it happens when i hit the brakes hard, like RIGHT when i hit them hard it thumps, RIGHT when my foot tips the brakes stronger than ussual. when i tap brake soft, then while its pressing soft, i brake hard, there's no thump. its all stock suspension, stock brakes, etc. i'll try explaining it again.. sorry i'm not good at explaining things... when i brake hard, slam brakes, etc, the thump occurs right when i touch the brakes. when i brake normal/soft, there is no thump. when i brake normal/soft, then while my foot is STILL on the brake, i press harder, there is no thump. the front end dives a considerable amount when i'm braking hard, but i'm guessing thats because of stock suspension. it leans alot too on hard turns. how do i check for loose caliper bolts? do i just see if its on tight?
