Today I was going to head out to some PT and I went to start up my car, it cranked... and kept on doing it. After a couple seconds of not starting up I pulled out my key but it kept on trying to start. I put the key back in and twisted it again and pulled it back out, and it finally stopped. Probably 25 seconds of trying to start up with nothing (20 of those on its own without a key), it almost did but I didnt want to drive her anywhere with this strange situation

I would blame it on the damn kids next door if I didnt know how troublesome this car could be (1990)

I had the brakes redone just a few days ago, but she drove fine a couple times since then. Other then that, nothing fancy at all, somewhat short trips (less then 45 miles). Ideas? My little computer thing bottom left on the dash hasnt worked (the orange thing that tells trips and such), I asked how to fix it but nobody gave any ideas so it just sat there, im not sure if it could tell me anything anyways

The starter relay could have stuck in the closed position I guess? I've never heard of that issue, but I've heard of several no-start problems with the early Q45s due to a bad starter relay. I guess if it stuck open instead of closed, that would do it. That would be my first guess. If you have the problem again, try opening the hood and tapping on the relay. It's the blue one on the firewall area near the ABS actuator on the right side of the engine bay. I would think another possibility is a badly worn ingnition switch...

Try shining a flashlight on the trip meter/info cluster at night. Can you still see numbers (or some sort of message) there? If so, then the fix is fairly easy... replace the two lamps behind it.

There's an old post around here somewhere with the part numbers for those bulbs. For some reason they seem to be difficult for the parts guys to find in their look-up software.

Good luck!
