strange sounds

hi guysi have a strange knocking sound coming from the front of my engine at idle. it comes and it goes. anyone know what this could be? thanks

it might be the timming chain is slapping the timming guide or the valve cover.open up the valve cover to remove that piece of crap!:D

not the top one or the right one.

oic i removed them and the sound is still therelots of tension on the chain , motor only has 90 thousand miles . i used a screwdriver to check where the sound is coming from.it seems to be coming from the bump on the front timing cover.could it be a bad gear where the distributer gear connects to the timing chain gear?

does the knocking sound like a ticking? as if you had rocker arms?
