I have a 2004 Murano SL AWD and it makes a strange noise in the winter. When I turn a corner, left or right, speed doesn't seem to matter, it sounds like something is rolling from one side of the truck to the other. I have had my suspension checked and the word is it's all okay. It only makes this sound in the winter. Any idea's?

Its a rolling sound? Squeaky? It's hard to help diagnose with that description....does it only happen in the winter? Does it happen every day?

Sorry for being vague. The best I can do is that it sounds as if you are rolling a baseball across a piece of plywood. It only happens under the driver's feet. It happens when turning corners only, left or right, and the noise always moves from left to right. Its hard to describe and the best way is that is sounds like a ball rolling across a piece of wood. It does only happen in the cold (fall sping and winter) and happens on about 75% of corners. It even happens after I have been driving for a few hours and the truck is warm.

That's weird!

Taking a wild guess here but the only thing I can think of is something to do with the transaxle. Have you checked the fluid?

I have not checked this but I will this weekend. Also a tire tech said that he heared the four-way linkage makes this noise for reasons unknown but that the linkage is in good shape. Have you heard this before?

No, I've not heard this particular noise as described.

Another possibility that comes to mind is your power steering. It's not uncommon for steering systems to display cold weather symptoms. I didn't mention this at first because you describe the sound as being under your feet. One thing to always remember is that cars are master ventriloquists. That noise could be originating from almost anywhere.

Make sure you check your power steering fluid. Also, have you added power steering fluid in the past?

Does the noise occur if you turn the wheel while the car is standing still?

When moving does the noise follow you all the way through the turn until you straighten the wheel or does it happen only while the steering wheel is in motion?
