Strange problem with the z32 and intake

i was trying to figure out why my 90 z32 sometimes stalls under breaking, it starts right back up when i pop the clutch... but its getting annoying. so i started with the intake to see if it wasnt getting proper airflow and sure enouph i think thats my problem. the guy who had the car before me cut a hole in each side of the metal intake tubes that connect to the main MAF intake tube. it looks as though he cut a hole in it and welded on a little oval circle on each side, why would anyone do this? he then coverd it with some duct tape and a little piece of cut metal... could this be my problem? sounds like a obvious yes but could it be something else as well? wow that guy was a moron, why would any one do that? was something suppost to go there?ide like this problem fixed as soon as possible.

ide really like to know what was in this guys mind when he cut those holes?? does anyone have any ideas???

So are the holes before the MAF or after the MAF? If they are before, they should have no effect unless they are creating turbulence, but they should still not make the car die. But if they are after the MAF, then they would affect the car.

they are after the maf on the metal tubes, not the ones that connect to the throttle bodies the tube one down from there but before the maf... if that makes sense?

Yeah it does. Try and find somebody that is parting out their Z and see if you could get them replaced. I have no idea why somebody would put those there.

yeah, the guy who owned the Z before me was a little weird. he took off all the moldings and weather stripping for weight reduction but left the back seat and some 150 pound subs in the back... not sure what he was thinking.

could those holes have been for a nitrous shot? i couldnt figure out any other reason why he would do that.
