CAR: 1996 Nissan 240sx
Engine: KA24DE
Problem: Aftermarket HID KIT

Finally got my car running well and took a drive to the store. On the way in my front bumper must have scraped. I thought the tire was rubbing but didn't see anything that had a mark on it so it must have been the bumper. Somehow both of my low beam HID ballasts blew.

I've had these ballasts wired in with a relay harness for over a year now and can expect that maybe one would burn out. I just can't imagine that both ballasts would go at the same time. The bulbs are fine, the power to the ballasts is fine just no output and I can't hear them firing. I can hear the high beam ballasts fire when I turn them on but not the low.

I'll have time to pull it all apart and double check tomorrow.

Can anyone think of any reason these might both blow at the same time?

Yeah I did just switch from 15" to 17" but didn't see any visible rubbing. I'll pull the wheels tomorrow and see if I can locate anything.

I pulled the tires. No rubbing. Front bumper cover is really loose and hanging a bit low.

Double checked the wiring harness going to the ballast, power in is fine they just are not firing or outputting any power. I guess I will replace the ballasts.

The low beams were on and working before I turned into that lot and heard the rubbing sound. I just hate to replace parts without knowing what caused the problem.
