My Sr just recently started making this strange noise as soon as it ignites. Its like a Squack upon turning over??

anyone know what it is? or what it means?

I have a red top Sr in a 1990 240 stock setup

thanks for the help

Well I was an idiot and pushed one of my retaining bungs on the flywheel through to the teeth and I get a clicking noise at start up (from the starter hitting the bung that got pushed through).

I would check your starter

did you check the tension on your belts? extremely loud squeeling noises on start up are usually slipping belts

I think I know what sound your talkin about. It definitly sounds like your starter. Have you checked to make sure the starter bolts are on tight. that sound can normally be heard when the starter is binding up on the flywheel. You might also be missing teeth on the starter or even the fly but I doubt that. Just check your starter and even pull it off if visually the starter is good and you cant tell. But it definitly sounds like it is binding. If the short and vague description you gave of the sound isn't the starter then when go from there.

is it like the sound that happens when you try to start a car that's already running?
