strange noise

I have a 2007 nissan sentra se 2.0
This morning wife alerted me to a strange noise coming from car. She is good that way. With the car idling, when i give it gas i get a loud muffler sound for about a second. With a quick inspection, sounds like it is coming from manifold area. Wife had to go to work so hopefully i can check out car further this evening. I took the car for a quick test drive and everything seemed ok. Car only has 93k on it. One thing I was wondering is what is that pre cat failure yall were talking about and butterfly adjustment. I browsed thru the forum only saw mentions of this and no explanation. Are yall referring to catalyctic converter? just a guess.

Pre-cat and butterfly issues were on the 02-06 SE-R/SE-R Spec V and the Altima with the 2.5.

Check to make sure the silencer hasn't come off of the intake.

Thanks I will check. Will that be under the big plastic cover covering up the intake.
