I would like to know if anyone has had this noise in their Rogue. I have an 09 SL awd all options. Between about 25 and 35 mph, cruising at very light throttle there is a whining noise. It peaks the loudest at exactly 30 mph. If you take your foot off the gas it stops, touch the gas and it is back. It is hard to tell where the noise is, but it is driving me nuts. At first the dealer said they could not hear it, but the last time the tech heard it and said I had to leave it for a whole day to find it. That's where it is now. I've been watching the forms but have not seen any about this. Thanks for any help in case they can't fix it.

No odd noises from mine. I know if I cruise at a speed from 30mph - 40 mph it shudders a little and the CVT really doesn't like that speed. I've read this is normal and don't worry about it. But it's relatively quiet.

The main problem with that type of questions is that noises are the most subjective subjects of all.
Noise for you may not be considered noise for someone else.
As a typical example, I really like the radio sound quality of my Rogue. My wife hates it to death and asks me to turn it off more than often when she is in the car. Most people on this forum don't like that part of the Rogue either.

As for the engine, I love when the Rogue is on the edge of lugging (around 25-30 mph), but others cannot stand the vibrations associated to that state.
Remember that I only drove I4 engines my whole life, that is my standard. I never experienced the supposed smoothness of a V6/I6/V8.

It is really hard to help you on that, sorry.

I agree it is tough to say what this noise might be, I hate to speculate and get you worried when it might be a very minor little problem. If you take it in to Nissan they'll probably key in on the CVT trans as a possible culprit for the whining noise, if it is experiencing problems don't worry, they will replace the unit under warranty (either the whole CVT or possibly the valve body).

It doesn't sound like anything to panic about, but I would take it in to Nissan and let them diagnose this. I would say in this case don't take it to a non-Nissan shop because if there is an issue with the CVT you'll want a Nissan trained tech looking at it. Good luck and let us know what you find out, it might just help someone else with a similar problem!

Glad to hear Nissan took care of this for you and you're back in your Rogue with a brand new transmission!
