Strange noise

Hi fellas,

First off, thanks to all for the invaluable info contained in this board.

Been owning my 94 J for some 8 months now, and I absolutely love it. I've got the standard shortcomings on it... the rear windows, the Bose CD and the sunroof. I am planning to fix them all, the timing hasn't been that great due to a recent career change which also involved an industry change altogether.

Anyway, in the past 2 weeks I have noticed a strange noise every time I start the car and drive off. I believe it is coming from the steering system, just not sure exactly what it is its source. I do know that in cold starts, while turning the wheel, a noise is heard. Sort of like an animal growling... It does stop after the car warms up and if the car is warm when started, the noise doesn't happen. I'm thinking a steering fluid change, but if I can get some opinions from the experts, I believe it would help. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Ound like the power steering pump, check the fluid and replace the oild fluid with some fresh may help.
