Can someone tell me why that I am hearing something that sounds like a bell? I am wishing that it is an angel getting its wings, but I fear the worst.

Is it a squeek? I used to have a car that would squeek anytime I turned the AC or heat on for too long because the change in temp would cause one of the plastic vents to rub against its housing.

What year is your Q? It may be spark knock, or more likely a throttle cable or brake line (feeding the ABS) that's not tied down properly and rattling... I've had both on my 90.

Dude, if you want any help at all you have to be a little more clear. Where is the noise coming from? At what RPM? Cold/hot? Inside or outside? I don't understand where you think people are going to come up with answer to a question like that with almost no info on the problem.

Sorry that i was so shallow but i am not sure of how to describe the problem i also have a no knowledge of mechanics at all. Ao i will try again. At low rpms (about 1000 to 2000) it has a ticking sound and then about 2000 about 3000rpm it sounds like a cow bell or something. This occurs no matter what the temperature is. As i said before the sound is coming through my dash but i dont think there is anything loose in there because i dont hear it when i hit bumps. Also my car is a 1991 Q with 141,xxx miles on it and i have had under a year. I hope this sound a little clearer to you now.

Didnt that guy that lost his chain guides also describe a cowbell sound right before the engine blew ??If its the guides replace them ASAP !!Just starting puts a huge load on them ..

I drive a J30 but ive read several horror storys about the plastic backed OEM timing chain guides crackin/failing.
