strange noise in certian rpm range

Recently i installed a injen short ram on my 96 s14...after the installation, when i would start the car up it would instantly cut off if i didnt give it a little gas...i figured it was a vaccume leak. .. the larger vaccume line that connects to the intake was too long and "kinked" i shortend it and re attached and now it starts up fine!....the same night i install new spark plugs and replace the distributor cap and rotor... the next day i realize my car sounds funny... now i have a sort of "Droning" noise from 3500 to 4500 and then it stops... and its heard most when you let the revvs drop from 4500 to 3500....not sure what it could be... so all help appreciated ...ill get on tomorrow to answer any questions again thanks!

I couldn't tell you, but if it isn't causing a problem I wouldn't worry about it.

Check your timing. Playing with the distributer cap may have offset it slightly. Also while your in there check your timing chain tensioners, they are known to break causing a sort of rattle.
