strange noise from brakes '04 G35x

I'm hearing a strange noise every time I start driving my car. typically its right when I hit the brakes for the first time after I start driving... its kinda like a grinding from the brakes, almost like ABS is kicking in. after the first time, I don't hear it again until I start up my car again later.

any thoughts?

Yeah, its the ABS doing its self-test. Usually happens around the shift between 1 and 2, but can happen when you depress the pedal, too.

Completely normal.

If you want to check it out in the owner's manual, you can (page 5-27 in the 06 manual). But you're hearing like a whurr noise, that's normal.

Welcome to the world of inexplicable and totally harmless noises from the many unrefined parts of the G-35, which is why I actually love the car.

Never ever be annoyed about the noise you hear from the G. Accept them, and know that it is the burden we must bear for having a car built more like a race car than a luxury car. Infiniti changed this philosophy when they made the G-37--built more like a luxury car than a race car. Only other car in Nissan stable, from what I have heard, that sometimes chatters and makes noises like the G-35 Coupe, is the new Nissan GTR.
