So I tried search, and nothing really fit the description of what I'm hearing, So I figured I'd ask.

Just installed BC racing coils. Lowered the car about an inch and a half all around. Worked out great in terms of how I wanted the car to look for now before I get new wheels.

However, now I'm getting a strange noise on the front left. The best way I can describe it is at speed, it sounds like a rock is wedged in the tire, but at low speed it almost sounds like somebody jumping on a trampoline. I checked for rubbing and didn't see anything noticeable rubbing. Checked for a rock just to be safe, didn't see one. It only happens when I press the accelerator. Off the accelerator its barely audible if its even happening at all. Never heard a noise like it.

Any insight is appreciated. Less audible turning right than when driving straight or turning left.

I dont have coils, and am certainly no expert, but I seem to remember numerous threads regarding this kind of noise or even a clicking and it had something to do with preload. Hopefully someone with experience jumps in here.

^ That. It definitely has to do with the preload. Try increasing your preload to get rid of the sound or adjust the dampening settings. I took my BC's apart a couple of times to get them adjusted and the sound eventually went away. Remember, the closer you are to the ground = the noisier/ less comfy the ride is going to be.

Just out of curiosity, did you install them yourself?

So scary thing I found out today. I took my car to my local PTuning in Manassas and had them align the car and find out what my mysterious noise was. I told them to check pre load at everyone's suggestion.

Turns out pre load was fine. No issues. However, my RL rsb was RUBBING my lower control arms. :wtf2: that was really scary knowing one big bump could have caused a lot of issues for my coupe. Had them switch the sway bar to the less stiff setting to stop the rubbing. No more noise! I might have been able to adjust the RL end links and keep the stiffer setting but I wasn't going to take any chances.

Thanks for the input though guys. I'll have to toy around with the settings. The tech said the sway bar was on correctly. Just the end links were too long. We will see if I can get my stiffer setting back one day. :gotme

Glad you got it fixed dude! And yeah that is scary. Every Wednesday I take the car to my friends shop and lift it to check if everything is still in place lol. You'd be amazed by the things I find -__-

Mmhmm.

I've been meaning to post a picture of my busted oil pan I had to replace.

And I just broke a CV boot, splurging grease everywhere. $500+ OEM axle replacement :(

Well done on editing the title of the post after resolving your issue MS. Now people who search this up will see what happened and what was done to fix it.

This is why this forum rocks. Carry on!

CV boots were one of the first things I checked too. I was really scared something really expensive was breaking haha. How did you break yours? I though you were only on Eibach springs?

Edit: Went back to the post I saw about your "frankenstein" setup. BC's in the front and Eibachs in the rear. How did you break your CV?

<--------Also curious.

I assume you hit something, I think it would have broken no matter what you hit? Height of the CV boot isnt really effected by springs/coilovers? Or am I being an idiot?

I drive her too hard :(

The boot broke on a performance drive. Friends e36 m3 was following me.

Before setting off I tightened up the front dampening quite a bit, not to max tho.

For anyone who's been there, Page Mill Rd is super bumpy. Car ran amazingly, but I think I made the suspension too stiff for all the bumps... So I think the stiffness + bumps tore the boot.

I'm very much considering parting out my car and just buying a Miata to beat around.

I don't think the axle/boot can be reached when bottoming out.

Idk how you feel about remac parts but I replaced my front and left axles for about $200 through rockauto (excluding labor of course. I lucked out and got a friend to help me but I tipped him good because the job sucks).

I remember you dropped your coils so far below the mount that they damaged the boot... did they damage your axles as well?

I already ordered the OEM replacement. I have a friends shop installing it for me for cheap. One of the only things that I don't want to tackle myself!

Honestly though, these cars are grocery getters... I think we are pushing the limits of our chassis! :ohno: :ohno:

I've got creaking, clicking and a noise that sounds similar to a flat tire. The clicking sounds like a baseball card in a bike wheel. And the creaking is under breaking. Some of it must be per load. But I'm not that low so some of the noises that are symptomatic of rubbing don't make sense.

Help from any one with BC.

Edit: Resolved again. Don't even want to mention what the issue was this time. Super simple and I feel kinda silly.

So I've been dealing with this noise for a while now. I've taken damn near the whole car apart trying to figure out what is doing it and have yet to find my answer. I seem to get this rattling noise when I hit bumps in the road. Now whether its just interior trim being bumped around because of how much stiffer these coils are, or if something is lose, or if its suspension related itself, I don't know.

What I DO know is that it sounded like it was coming from the trunk. Took the whole trunk apart. Nothing left inside. Found no lose trim pieces. Found no lose bolts or anything. Just some water oddly eough down in the little pockets to the side. But that's a different story.

So I'm guess I'm asking if any other BC coil people have had rattling noises coming from odd places. I don't think its the suspension itself because it doesn't do it going over speed bumps. Only over the little bumps in the road when it gets enough momentum to move around... whatever it is.

Any insight is appreciated. I'm starting to regret buying coils.

I haven't seen anyone post about any problems or having H&R Sport Springs in on this forums since i joined. Haven't had a single issue with them yet. Glad I went with them

I have the BC BR-type Coilovers with an 1 and a 1/4" fender to wheel gap all around. Car rides great on smooth roads. Unfortuantely my daily commute is along bad roads and that THUNKING NOISE is slowly driving me mad.

I've taken apart the truck lining and rear seats in search of this noise. I've reinstalled the BC spring and strut 4 times already in the rear; I've checked and recheck the preload. Preload is perfect and everthing is tight on the rear subframe. I've checked and re-checked everything. Ever bolt, the sway bar, the endlinks and all bushings are perfect; yet I still get a THUNKING NOISE from the passenger side rear end when I go over pot holes and inperfection in the road.

The noise is very similar to what MetallicSlate discribed. It isn't tire noise, or metal on metal sqeaking.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I figured out mine. Broken pin leads to my side skirt moving around and thunking. Quite annoying. I'll fix it one day.

My noise is coming from the subframe rear left; it's getting worse now that the weather is colder. I should have opted for the swift springs instead of the bc springs. I'm thinking the bc spring rebound is off and that THUNKING noise is the upper spring seat hitting the upper spring perch or moving around in the upper spring perch notch. The bc struts are good the bushings are new replaced them when I uninstalled the stock shocks.
