When I first got my ka-t going, the car would run hot for like 3 sec. then go back down to normal. I thought it just might have air in it alittle. I drove it to my shop and it didnt do it anymore. It didnt do it again for about 3 days and then it did it again. Its not doing it anymore and its been 6 days and no problems. What does this sound like to you guys? Is it possible that it fixed itself or if it had air in it, it just maybe bled out somehow?

T-stat is my guess as well, unless it was air like you guys already said.

I have had problem usually the first 5 or 10 minutes it would run hot but it would do it one day and not the next. After putting in the NISMO(60bucks) thermostat in it seems to be fixed now. That is a PITA when it happens. I would cut the car off when it started to overheat and waite one minute and it would go back to normal and I wouldn`t have the problem again for the rest of the day.

Yeah it might be a good idea for me to invest in a nismo stat. Its hot today and my car is running a little above the mid mark. I might need a rad. too.

I had this problem, even after I installed a new thermostat. I determined it to be air in the system. I noticed that if the temp rose above normal, and I turned my heat on, cold air would blow out, until (my guess) the air bubble moved and some coolant got to the heater core, then the heat was hella hot. If your having this problem, just bleed the coolant system through the bleed screw which I beleive is located on the intake manifold. Good Luck

i had the same type of problem... when the car warmed up it would steadily climb to being a little overheated and then the tstat would open and it would cool down in seconds...

nissans just have nasty cooling systems a lot... i swear i have seen so many 240's with rust in there... i did a few flushes on mine, added some rust fighting stuff and have drained it and refilled it a number of times while installing the turbo and fixing everything up. it hasn't done it for a long time now, but it used to do it every single time the car warmed up. i was guessing the tstat was just clogged with crap, and once i flushed it and drained and refilled it a few times the problem went away. i'm still not satisfied with how the coolant is still a little muggy, so i'm going to continue working on cleaning out the cooling system well... just check yours out. i bet you have the same type of stuff i had/have... flush it and run the hose (garden hose i mean...) into the coolant lines and really get everything out of there... see if that helps at all. it worked for me.

yea i just got my nismo t-stat yesterday $68 shipped for me and my car doesnt overheat anymore. im going to put in my altima fans first then maybe jsut sell the nismo although the nismo t-stat feels much sturdier and better quality than the advanced auto parts 6x cheaper t-stat
