Strange Indeed

96Q45/156k miles.........After reaching home from my daily commute (90 miles)........I put the car in reverse and nothing happened, acted as if still in neutral. The next morning, the car reversed normally...........After reaching my destination........No reverse.........Car drives normally going forward. I Guess that's better than the other way around.....At the end of the day reverse returns and I drive home normally........Torque in all the gears, clean shifts. When its cold it works.

Do you think this repairable .........or am I ready to call Scottsdale For a Nissan Rebuild.

what is the history of fluid changes? what type of trans fluid used?

Mobile 1 flushed at 15-20k intervals at a Mobile Facility. Haven't dropped the screen since 90k.

Just as an fyi.....I already spoke with Fastlane about this problem as I had the exact problem on my 95 Q at 120K miles. Sometimes it would work and other times I would have to roll the car backwards with the selector in "reverse" inorder to somehow get the reverse gear to "catch" so I could back up. Forward driving was never a problem. I had the transmission rebuilt after 2 weeks of no reverse and they said something about a valve body failing or something and killing the gear in that one area.

Sounds like lubrication starvation, something that (IIRC) is fixed with the level 10 or IPT transmissions..
