i have a redtop sr20det it was in my s14 everything was working fine no problems at all got in a wreck so took the moter and swaped it str8 in to my other s14 so i figered everthign would be right but when i frist started it. it was idleing at 2000rpms but so i turn ited off and check afew thing and when i stated it back it idled at around 1500 i let it keep runing and as the car warmed up the idle began to drop to normal 800 rmp i belive this is the right rmp for this moter (s13 redtop) but everytime i frist start the car it idles around 1500 till it warms up then droped to inbetween 1000 and 800 rmps anything you could do to help with the problem would help a ton..

thanks mikesardy

This is normal, the ECU is resetting itself. Whenever i do any major work on my car (same engine in an s13), when i first start it up again I just let it do its thing for 10 minutes.

Wait until it idles down to about 800rpm then take it for a drive, but don't romp on it until you're sure everything is working right.

He's talking about the fuel map prefs. The ECU makes changes to the fuel map as you drive around, and when you lose battery power for awhile the map resets. It's not any kind of problem, just what happens. It should stop in a few days of driving. In the mean time you can make sure nothing's leaking and whatnot.

your computer is not resetting itself...it is normal...when you start your car the idle air control motor holds the rpms up then slowly lowers the rpms as the motor warms up...guys if you dont know what your talking about then dont reply to peoples post , you freak people out when you tell them the wrong answers.
