Hi guys. I am having a strange problem with my 04:

Left head light: only high beam works.
RIght head light: only low beam works.
Seat heaters: only the left side works.

I checked the bulbs and all fuses and none of those seem to be the cause of the problem. I am not sure this is related but these issues may have appeared after a faulty cigarette lighter to USB adapter blew the fuse for the armrest box power outlet. Any suggestions?

Checked fuses both behind the driver coin tray and in the engine bay fuse boxes?

I checked both fuse boxes in the engine bay and they were okay. I looked at the fuses inside the car but did not see a fuse for the headlights in that fuse box... the strange thing is that one headlight has high beam and the other has low beam. If a fuse was blown neither the high nor the low beam would work in that headlight. Unless there are 4 separate fuses? also there seems to be one fuse for both seat heaters. one seat heater works and the other does not. very confusing!

I suppose it is theoretically possible for a relay to be stuck open or closed. Try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes to see what that does.

Do you have daytime running lights (that is, do you have a Canadian Pathfinder)? If you do, the DTRL module has a less-than-stellar reputation, and when it fails it can cause headlight issues like the ones you're having. It's a beige box located beside the battery. If you do have DTRL and have exhausted other possible causes, a replacement module is ~$300. Others have fixed the module by opening the casing and re-soldering connections. YMMV.

So I took the car to Nissan today and they said the DTRL module needs to be replaced. They don't have the part in stock. How difficult is it to disassemble the DTRL module and re-solder it? My soldering skills are are alright. BTW I live in Edmonton too!

Another Edmontonian! Do you park downtown? I see about four other Pathies where I park, in the Grandin area...

But I digress. Personally, I just replaced mine. There was another guy on here in the past who said he successfully repaired his, but he didn't go into any detail about it.

Oh, and I was wrong on the price; I must have been thinking about a different part. I got mine from Courtesy Parts, in the states, and it was $150 plus a $40 UPS brokerage fee. http://www.courtesyparts.com/28576-cont ... 00278.html. If you order from there, make sure to give them your VIN so they can confirm the part number.

Had the same problem about a year ago.
The DRL module was defective. (There's a thread on here about it from back then, but I don't have the time to search for it.)
Before the resoldering repair procedure was mentioned, I shopped around for a new module.
The dealer price was $275.00 plus tax, and had no warranty or return policy with it. Buy it, it yours.
I decided to go to my local junk yard instead, and found a Pathfinder with the DRL module still in it.
I paid $25.00 for it, and it has worked perfectly ever since.
I highly recommend you either try the soldering thing, or go to a wrecker. Dealer price is ridiculous.

R50-D: If you find a Pathy in a wrecker around town, let me know. I've only ever seen one, a Pathy in the 96-99 year range that's in the "Kar Bashers" lot north of Sherwood Park.

It's well picked over too. Pathys at wreckers in the Edmonton area are few and far between.
