Strange electrical issue/95 nissan 240sx

I'm having a strange electical issue with my car. When you first turn the car on the interior lights the radio, wiper blades, the running lights, turn signals and brake lights do not work. However, once you take off forward everything comes on and works fine works fine until you take the key out again. Any ideas what would cause this?
