I have a bone stock KA24DE (Well I think, I just got it about a month ago). Well anyway the thing has been taken care of beautifully and well maintained, it only has 66,000 miles on it. But when I shift fast at about 6,000 or any rpm's for that matter and rev real high, about 6,000 on the deceleration, my car makes a quick BOV like sound. Does anyone know what this is? At first I thought I was driving wrong, but then when I revved it at a standstill it still made the noise. Also this is on the very top of the decel too like right at the point were you lift at the gas. Thanks.

Hmm I'm not sure, I guess I'll have to take it in and have it looked over. Although would decel pressure escaping from a leak happen most of the time? I'm just wondering because this only happens on fast shifts, but if I take it slow like city driving and through the neighborhood it doesn't happen. There is puddle of liquid under the car a lot of the time though. How would I be able to check for leaks and what not?

what color liquid?

green = antifreeze/coolantblack/brownish = oilblue = windshield washer liquidclear = A/C condensor water stuff

my guess is that it's probably green, and that when you shift you might shoot out some coolant?

also remember to check for a turbo, never know when one of those might find it's way onto your engine.

No its just oil and clear some times, here is some quick pictures I took of the engine bay with an unfamilliar expensive tricky digital camera, tell me if you see anything, and by that big space to the right there defiantly not a turbo.

Or maybe not I need somewhere to host them...

Where in the engine bay does the leak seem to be coming from.

If it's oily but more clear, I'd lean towards it being power steering fluid.

I don't know it is just black when I find it on my driveway, can powersteering really cause that noise when shifting at high rpm's? The steering is kinda tuff but then agian I am used to driving a Toyota Avalon.

I have a sound that sounds similar to what you stated. It is nothing really loud, just a "hissss", not quite but not like a loud BOV. I encountered this sound when I put my pop charger on, and I only hear it during high-rpm's too. I would say it is your pop charger from my exsperience, however if you are finding liquid under your car other then water, I would have it looked at for a possibal other non-related issue.

I hope that is it (don’t want to say anything :D), but I don't think I have oil I think it is just water that looks black or dark on the pavement because it does not leave a mark or stain like my others cars used too. The liquid isn’t that big of a deal it only occurs sometimes and it has been checked in the last couple of weeks, serviced and everything and I have had that noise the entire time. I was just scared I was working over the clutch or something of that nature so I guess I can carry on with out loosing sleep now.

Another possibility is the A/C compressor belt. I have the same noise sometimes at high RPM's The noise you are actually hearing is the A/C compressor kicking back in and when it tries to kick in at 6k RPM's it kinda stresses the belt a little lol. Try doing this without the A/C or defrost on, if your noise goes away then that is your problem. On my car it sounds identical to a BOV and it has in fact fooled a lot of people who hear it.

I think your right, I turned off the A/C and it doesn't do it, but a weird new thing has arisen. Under very heavy race circumstances running hard it makes the noise when I'm not shifting and just accelerating, but this time it jerks the car. It has only done this twice now. Is this going to be a problem?

It defiantly has something to do with the A/C because It made the noise with the A/C on, then I turn it off, the noise went away, then I turned the A/C back on and it came back.

Does it kind of sound like a wine, like errrrRRrrr or something? Mine did that, and I found out its the power locks opening when you shut the car off. I think it has something to do with the temperature too.
