Post

Hi, I recently got a used 2013 Nissan Rogue special edition AWD, and it drives really well, but this is also the first CVT vehicle that I have used.

With the A/C set to "Max A/C" and the engine idle, I get the following engine load behavior. Engine load at around 20%, then it jumped to a little under 30% when the compressor kicks in.

The compressor then turns off a few seconds later, and the load drops, this happens at a fixed interval.

If I increase the throttle, then let the compressor kick in, then the RPM will drop, even if I do not change the position of the throttle (accelerator is kept in the same position). For example, in the video I recorded, increased the throttle to get the RPM to 2500, then when the A/C compressor turns on, the ROM drops to about 1500 RPM.
I recorded a video of this behavior. I will try to post a link when I can, but the video ID is youtu.be/Oci8V-ix63I

If I lift the hood, you are able to hear the sounds, as well as the behavior of the fan starting and stopping. This video was captured after the engine and A/C had been running for about 30 minutes.

The sound is very different when the engine has been on for less than 5 minutes.

Overall, I would like to know if this behavior is normal, or if I should be worried about anything?

I recorded videos corresponding to each behavior that I have noticed, but the forum will not allow me to post any URLs.
