I am in the same boat sort of. I turn mine off and it runs for like 3 seconds then dies. Tell me, does he get a buzzing sound from his ignition relay after turning the car off?

Im still hunting down my problem. Didn't do it before the swap, now it does. Redid all wiring and grounds, Im lost.

its either one of two things:

"Dieseling" buildup of carbon and the engine just sort of keeps detonating for a little while until the residual fuel runs out. Never had this on the 240 but did on my old carbed camaro

or could be a burnt out diode in your ecu

he said no dinging when you turn the key off guess it just stays on and i dont think its the detonating cuz the car stay on not staying on and dieing later

Is there a certain diode that would be culprit or does the ECU need replacing?

there is a diode but I dont know which one. I tried to figure out which part it was, a while ago testing one of my burnt ecu and my good spare but I couldn't nail it down. There was a thread ago by a guy named Ross (I forget his screen name) where he was trying to solve it too, I could give you his email address if you wanted. The last time I talked to him it was still a bit of a mystery

The closest I got was this guy, [email protected], said he could fix it for $60. At the time I had 2 spare ecus so I didnt need it repaired, I just have another paperweight.

Well thats some good info. Ive been dying over this issue. I was going to get another ECU for ROM tuning anyhow so I will see if it helps.

Thanks again!
