Took my daughters to the older one's theater practice in Claremont tonight. Got back in the car and it wouldn't start. And no, I didn't leave anything like the headlights on.

I called the dealer since they were still open and the sales manager told me it sounded like the battery and if I get the car there tomorrow they'll take care of it for me.

Long story short, I had to wait until her practice was over in case they were going to have to tow the Versa (I couldn't leave the kids there). Finally was able to call AAA at 8:30; the truck was there by nine. The driver jump started the car, then had me turn it off again to see if it would start on it's own again. Dead.

He jumped it again, hooked up a tester and in bold letters the tester reads "BAD CELL". I drove it home, killed it in the driveway and will jump it in the morning to get it to the dealer. While I'm there I'll have them take a look at that tire that's losing 2 lbs a week and the plastic piece that popped off the rear seat.

These things shouldn't be happening to a car less than three months off the showroom floor. I'm starting to think that Nissan hired former Chrysler people to assemble this Versa.

No body's perfect, and after all, it could be worse. At least you're not finding out after an accident that the airbags wouldn't deploy correctly.

True, but if enough little things go wrong I won't be able to trust that the big things WILL work....

Well, in all fairness, does Nissan actually assemble the battery? Batteries are notorious for having problems right off the shelf. Just the other day the old battery in my G gave up the ghost - and the first new $80 battery they threw in at the parts store afterward was a dud that wouldn't take a charge. Plus, the tire issue could be a tire defect.

I'm not trying to minimize your issues, as I'm sure I'd be pretty fed up had I had the same experience, just saying that it might not all be Nissan's fault. Not that they're perfect by any means, either. Hopefully all is corrected with the V and it offers years of trouble free operation beyond these initial hiccups.

OK. Some my fault, some not, but there is no question as to West Covina Nissan's customer service.

Took the car in this morning (Yes, the service department opens early on Saturday mornings, too).

Problem #1: Battery. Yes, it was a bad battery and they put in a new one at no charge under warranty. My only inconvenience after that was reprogramming the stations on the radio.

Problem #2. The right rear tire. It was actually a nail not easily visible to the naked eye. Definitely NOT a Nissan problem but WCN plugged the tire for free under warranty. And, another testimonial for the TPMS. It works on my car.

Problem #3- The plastic seat part. Needs to be ordered; I'm guessing they haven't seen that problem before. They are going to call me when the part comes in and fix it under warranty.

Now, additional good things. As soon as I walked in Scott handed me the printout of the new rubber pad for the top of the back bumper. He remembered me and remembered that I had been looking for one. Nissan just came out with it this week. The price is very reasonable. They have to order that, too. It looks like an adhesive-type that doesn't require drilling or pins so WCN offered to put it on the car at no labor cost since I'm going to be the first one they sell and install at the dealership.

And, as always, the car was returned with the exterior washed and interior vacuumed. Impressive.

Good that they're taking care of the problem for you

Is this a protective pad for the top of the bumper you are talking about so you don't scratch the bumper when loading/unloading the hatch?? How much did they quote you...I'm curious...

Yes, it's to prevent scratching the top of the bumper. I don't want to get too precise with the price quote because I think WCN has given me some breaks on other prices and I'm not sure if the price they quoted had any break built into it. I'll just leave it with the fact that it is less than $30 including sales tax.
