You sir, just answered your own question :mike Most competent exhaust shops will be able to put a pipe where ever you want them to.

No problem. You're simply eliminating the resonator on the 2.5. Should be a fairly cheap and quick job probably.

It might vary, I'd say between $100-$200 with labor etc.

The OP asked me how and where, not "should I?" :) On a 2.5 its not going to be spectacular sounding.

I had a 4 banger with no resonator for a while. It's not pretty. Sounds like a ricer, the rasp is hideous.

Now, if you keep a good long resonator on there, but remove the muffler that's another story. Depending on the size of the resonator, it should sound deep-ish and not have that rice rasp. An intake kit will help with the growl some.

Nismo exhaust for one, while expensive and Stillen, sound nice on a 2.5. I've heard the Nismo on a 2.5 and it sounds really nice for a 4 banger.

Also, a proper resonator/straight flow Magnaflow type muffler will sound mean without the rice can rattle or fart.

im going to take my car down to the muffler shop and see how he feels about it. i have been running around for too long with out a little noise. i know when i got flow masters on my truck, it had a really mean sound, but it took away from the performance. i was young and didnt really understand (not that i understand any more, now) but does that rice sound mean performance in a four banger? i dont really understand what does what with the torque band for high and mid range performance

DONT get rid of that resonator... u have no idea how terrible it sounds.

DO get the stillen header w/ nismo exhaust. the header is night and day towards the performance aspect, and its not too raspy. esp w/ the nismo. i advocate that header w/ every fiber lol- it feels like a totally different car. no weed wacker needed.

i already have a magnaflow cat back & went to get my resonator eliminated, 25 bucks & it only took 15 mins but when i start up my carin the morning it does sound horrible, like a lil honda hatchback, once it warms up it sounds better but thats with the stillen header with the oem header it sounded ok

I thought a straight pipe was directly from headers to exhaust??
Correct me if I'm wrong, or is it possible 2 go straight pipe and yet still keeping ur catalac convertor??
I'm just mainly tryna get some more power and yet not be 2 frkan loud..
And if this helps I alredy have an injen intake and I'm getting headers dis week, and nismo catback down da road..
Any advice on the straight pipe deal??

Like everyone else said just keep your resonator its better with it to eliminate the ricer sound. Ive had it fully straight pipe before and its just too much noise. Use the search button to find other exhaust threads including mine

a straight pipe eliminates an IN PIPE catalyst (catalytic converter)

our cars have the cat IN our exhaust manifold.

so you can straight pipe that sucker, but it'll do no good because the premise of that straight pipe is to get rid of the cat.

because of the positioning as well, you NEED your flex pipe or when your engine rev's as you drive, you will fly through flange's and rubber connectors because your engine will be unable to move freely, as such, your exhaust will move more w/ the rubber bungs and you do not want that.

IN SHORT- you cant straight pipe an exhaust manifold because its a 4-1 outlet.(premise being getting rid of a cat) if you want that functionality- get the header. a straight pipe in another fashion which you are trying to say, would to be to get rid of the resonators, and like we are all mentioning... DONT. (ying ying ying) get my drift?

Sounds a lot more understanding for me now :)
Thanx for the info.
So no straight pipe for me,
Gonna go with headers and nismo exhaust :)
