Hi,

I decided not to get the N1 for my SR swap as it is projected out at an angle. I hate the ricey look of it. I want a straight, sleeper looking catback like stock. Anybody knows which 80mm catback that projects straight? Thanks.

Can't think of many off hand, every after market one that I have seen (except the Blitz Nur Spec on an S14) sits out to the angle. Personally I like it cause it's differant, but that's just me Chris

ricey look of it? I think you have a bad perception of cars, and 'rice' if that comment was really made....especially being that Apex is only known for perfrmance, and doesnt sell 'rice'

I did an SR swap and the owner put on a N1 Dual outlet and god it was loud. It was so god damn annoying sitting in the car and outside. A little ridiculous. To get what you want you should get some straight SS piping, a good muffler like a SS Borla or something like that, a resonator of some sort, some mandrel bends, and get a muffler shop to weld that ***** together. They can do it almost perfectly straight and you can get whatever muffler you want. Thats just my opinion.

BTW, IMO a 4.5" tip or 2-3.5" tips are rice  . Definately not needed and a 4.5" tip doesn't exactly look like a stock exhaust.

Here was my idea... http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....20811unfortunately not many people seemed to care about an understated, quiet performance exhaust so I didnt get many responses. But its a good source of ideas as to what I'm probably going to do!

like i said, you have a very distorted view of rice......Just for your info, any respectable, under 11 sec. car will have a larger than 3" exhaust, and would not be classified as rice...If your car has smaller than 3" piping, therefor 3.5" tip, i would call you slow, and a poser for even having an exhaust if you want to know the truth.

That statement is rediculous.

Maybe I did not state my statement correctly. What I really mean by 'ricey' in this case is the exhaust being projected in an angle like the Apexi N1. I would take N1 if it is projected straight out (90 degrees). I wouldn't mind if the exhaust is loud and the tip is 115mm as long as it is projected out straight and still have the performance. So, is the Blitz Nur Spec R projected at an angle, Samabra or anybody with that exhaust? If not, maybe I will get that one. Thanks for replying. By no means I want to stir up arguments among you guys, just want to get a good performing 90-degrees out catback exhaust.

if i could ask a related question while we're talking about exhaust and cat-backs..

What is the purpose of the resonator anyway?

Ok, lets see if I can put my .02yen in this. The reason it comes out at an angle is because it gives it the most ground clearnace without putting to many bends into it, IE stright though design. So thats why most good exaust that run in the JGTC GT300 and the GT500 have many years of design go into there exaust. For the price the N1 can't be beat. And the answer Cyber's answer, the resonator acts like a muffler, its usally stright though glass packs or simmalar, used to get rid of unwanted sounds, IE "ricey" sounds. What the N1 leaves behind is a very low low tone, with a nice turbo 4 sound up top (dont know how else to phrase it) ill post some sound clips of mine later. So I hope this enlightens you to why its slanted. like my eyes....

Does anyone here have an opinion on the exhaust system I outlined in my thread http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....20811 ??
