The one on eBay says it for 3.5, I don't think they can fit a 3.7 right?

He removed everything and replaced it with mandrel bent piping and X pipe and dumped to the Infiniti sport mufflers, it sounds real nasty too. If I remember correctly he didn't have any issues with CEL or passing inspection after having them removed. I'm getting ready to do a full custom 2.5" exhaust removing the secondary cats and resonators on my M56s. Adding an X pipe and dumping it to Magnaflow 10416 mufflers.

Correct, no CEL's or emission issues...got the Forsyth Co. paperwork to prove it. However one must note that the 5.6 cats are integrated into the exhaust manifolds, while the 3.7 cats bolt directly on to its manifolds...this allows the 3.7 folks the luxury of running test pipes for a true "catless" exhaust while the 5.6 guys have to settle for leaving our cats on and deleting the Y-pipe which contain a second set of cats.walt1227 wrote:Armybrat has a custom 2.5" exhaust on his M56. Could always knock the cat substrate out of the primary cats. I did that on my first Titan after I melted one of them. Picked up two tenths and with the high flow catted B-pipes never set a code. It had the 02s in a raised bung with a tiny hole drilled into the pipe.armybrat wrote:Correct, no CEL's or emission issues...got the Forsyth Co. paperwork to prove it. Yeah I thought about doing that but not at this time. I don't have the luxury of access to a shop with a lift or the time to mess with it...plus when I had my exhaust apart I was able to look at the cats, and they looked clean as a whistle. I don't want to take a chance on messing up a good set of cats or possibly throwing a code. Maybe once they start giving me problems I will look into doing something. If the cats were removable from the manifold like the 3.7 I would definitely give it a try.DFW2011M56S wrote:Could always knock the cat substrate out of the primary cats. I gained 20 hp on a heart breaking Mustang Dyno at the tires at redline with the gutted factory manifold cats and high flow cats in the B pipes. Had the high flow B-pipes already on the truck when I hollowed out the primary cats. The high flows had metallic substate spun race cats. I even ran catless B-pipes with the same 02 sensor trick and never set codes catless. I lost a slight amount of midrange torque but never noticed it at all, truck was quicker in the 1/8 and 1/4. I actually had gains even at the 60' probably because ot was easier to launch with a little less torque. The cat was also healthy on the first dyno so it was not the effect of a clogged cat either. Keeping the cat material out of the engine is not overy difficult either. I hooked up a compression tester with the valve core removed and put compressed air on a cylinder with the exhaust valve open. Blew the material out of the manifold as it was air hammered out of the cat.
My M56 intermittently sets a P0420 as of the last few months and I am thinking of doing the same with it
