I watch a lot of videos that i store on an external hddpretty soon, my little brother is gonna move in to the apartmentwith me, and i dont want to keep having to pass the external back and forthso i was thinking of building a computer just for storage and connect that to therouter so he can take what he wants without interrupting my own computer usageproblem is, i dont know how to go about doing that and what i would needi know enough about computers to be able to build my own and repair other computersbut thats it, i would google this, but i dont really know where to startso thought i pop in here and ask the folks on Nico first on where to go

But sounds like a good plan. But also you could set it up for the HD to stay on one comp and both computers use it still...

No, the EASIEST solution to this is to get a NAS External Harddrive. Its an external harddrive with an ethernet plug on its side, jsut plug the ethernet into it and bam, you have sharing.

Thats an example, but I reccomend you get a Western Digital.

But the only problem your idea has is he already has an external HD.....

He can buy another one.. haha but this time it won;t have to be unplugged and all the computers on his network can share it all at once.
