Stored Code P0455 Evap Emissions leak detected

Hi folks, My 2006 M35 Sport check engine light came on yesterday and I had the codes scanned. One of them was P0455 Evap Emissions leak detected. The other was low battery voltage but that was my fault due to an interior light I left on a couple weeks ago. I checked under the hood and do not see the evap canister. I plan to pull it onto the ramps tomorrow and look for loose hoses.

Any advice would be appreciated. I would hate to have to take it to the dealer for something simple and stupid.

This can be as simple as the gas cap not being on straight for a few days. Reseat that, drive to half tank and refill to full, then drive for a while more to see if the code will reset itself. For canister inspection, if it's not under the hood, it could be under the rear wheel fender. Have you hit a curb or had brush damage your car from underneath recently? I don't see your car as being old enough for things to fail on their own yet. You can download the FSM from the "Service Manual" link at the top of our Forum pages. That will spell out a diagnoses procedure for you.

I found the Purge valve at the back of the manifold collector. My '07 shows the same part numbers so I can play swapsy and find out which part is bad. I don't have a pressure tester so if it gets to that point I may have to take her in.

Have not hit anything but it does have 182K on the odometer. I thought about the gas cap. Guess I can swap that with my '07 as well. I read somewhere that the Canister is under the trunk. Looks like and Easter egg hunt.

Vent valves are common on them. Is the code active or in history?
